CALL TO ORDER This meeting was called to order by Chair Bonos at 3:30PM. 2. ROLL CALL Present: 7 - Chair Nina Bonos, Vice Chair Lisa Puentes, Committee Member Katherine Anderson, Committee Member Kristin Kiefer, Committee Member Michelle Edwards, Committee Member Monica Bryant, and Committee Member Melanie Jones-Carter 3. PUBLIC COMMENTS None 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: March 4, 2019 Item approved as submitted. 5. SCHEDULED ITEMS 5.1 Coffey Neighborhood Park Public Art Project: Selection Panel Recommendation. Staff will present the artist recommended by the selection panel for Coffey Neighborhood Park Public Art Project. Recommended Action: Approve recommended artist. A motion was made by Committee Member Edwards, seconded by Committee Member Kiefer, that this Art in Public Places Agenda Item be approved. The motion carried by an unanimous vote. 6. COMMITTEE MEMBER REPORTS - Anderson: Press Democrat, "Santa Rosa artist winds fans with Joyous Jewish Imagery," article about Chair Bonos. - Bryant: Review of art viewed in Seattle and Hawaii. Will be shariing as Pecha Kucha at next meeting. - Kiefer: There are two upcoming public workshops on the Downtown Station Area Specific Plan where the bulk of information gathering will occur. The meetings are taking place on Wednesday, City of Santa Rosa Special Meeting Minutes Page 2 of 2 Art in Public Places Committee Special Meeting Minutes - Final April 22, 2019 May 1, at the downtown library, and Saturday, May 5, at Teen Chop’s Center. They will be the same meeting. - Bonos: Washington D.C., Smithsonian, National Portrait Gallery and viewed the “Votes for Women: A Portrait of Persistence,” exhibition and Smithsonian Gardens, Orchid Exhibition. Also, went to the Tidal Basin to view the Cherry Blossoms. Also, went to the first Mayor’s luncheon with Mayor Schwedhelm. Mayor Schwedhelm is focused on being truly engaged with the community and would like all the Boards and Committee’s to do so as well. 7. DEPARTMENT REPORTS Continuing with the Strategic Planning Sessions through Creative Sonoma. There have been three meetings. The goal is to have a better sense of how the Public Art Program integrates into the Economic Development Department. Additionally, to have a strategic plan which looks at whether the programs being done are effective way of achieving the goals of the program. There is one more session on May 21 that Raissa de la Rosa, Economic Development Manager, Chair Nina Bonos, and Tara Thompson will be attending. Staff will update the Committee on the outcome at a future meeting. 8. ADJOURNMENT Chair Bonos adjourned the meeting at 4:15pm. The next regular meeting of the Art in Public Places Committee on May 6, 2019 will be cancelled. A Special Meeting is tentatively planned for May 13, 2019.
