CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Nina Bonos at 3:32PM 2. ROLL CALL Present: 5 - Chair Nina Bonos, Committee Member Katherine Anderson, Committee Member Monica Bryant, Committee Member Melanie Jones-Carter, and Committee Member Kristin Kiefer Absent: 2 - Vice Chair Lisa Puentes, and Committee Member Michelle Edwards Also present: Scott Constable & Ene Osteraas-Constable, artist team of Wowhaus 3. PUBLIC COMMENTS None 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES - May 13, 2019 The minutes from May 13, 2019 Special Meeting. Item approved as submitted. 5. SCHEDULED ITEMS 5.1 Coffey Park Public Art Project Final Artwork Design Staff will introduce the artist team of Wowhaus, Scott Constable & Ene Osteraas-Constable, who will present the community process that led to the artwork design concept and share their artwork proposal and project budget. Recommended Action: Approve Artists’ proposal and project budget. Public Comments: - Bill Dorsey commented in opposition to the item. City of Santa Rosa Regular Meeting Minutes Page 2 of 3 Art in Public Places Committee Regular Meeting Minutes - Final August 5, 2019 - Brian Bushon comment for himself and on behalf of his neighbors in opposition to the item. - Steve Kovanis with Carlile Macy, commented in support of the item. - Michelle Wilhoyte commented in opposition to the item. A motion was made by Committee Member Kiefer that this Art in Public Places Agenda Item be approved with the suggestion that the mosaic be slightly larger. Committee Member Anderson seconded the motion. Committee Member Jones-Carter made a friendly amendment to suggest the luminescent aggregate be incorporated into the finish of the sculptures. Committee Member Bryant made a friendly amendment to suggest language from the plaque be incorporated around the mosaic. Committee Member Kiefer accepted both friendly amendments. Committee Member Kiefer motioned to approve with the friendly amendments, Council Member Anderson seconded the motion that this Art in Public Places Agenda Item be approved as amended. The motion was carried by an unanimous vote. 5.2 Burbank Gardens Neighborhood Benches Kelley Singleton, member of the Burbank Gardens Neighborhood Association and artist Judy Kennedy will present a community art project proposed for two benches located in the neighborhood. The Transportation & Public Works Department has approved the benches for an art project. Recommended Action: Approve artwork design. Chair Bonos continued the item to the next meeting. 5.3 Fire Response: Round Two Staff will present the results from the selection process for round two of the Fire Response Project. DEPARTMENT REPORTS Staff shared a Call for Artists for a show that will be around the two year anniversary of the Sonoma County Complex fires, and that any Sonoma County resident can submit one piece of art to be displayed at the Person Senior Wing for a month starting in September. Registration is open through August 15, 2019. Staff announced that there are members of the Committee who have outstanding trainings and Form 700 items. 8. ADJOURNMENT The next regular meeting of the Art in Public Places Committee scheduled for Monday, September 2, 2019, will be cancelled due to the Labor Day Holiday. Chair Bonos adjourned the meeting at 5:57PM. The next regular meeting of the Art in Public Places Committee on September 2, 2019 is cancelled due to the Labor Day holiday.
