CALL TO ORDER This meeting was called to order by Chair Puentes at 3:33PM 2. ROLL CALL Present: 5 - Chair Nina Bonos, Vice Chair Lisa Puentes, Vice Chair Kristin Kiefer, Committee Member Monica Bryant, and Committee Member Melanie Jones-Carter Absent: 1 - Committee Member Katherine Anderson 3. PUBLIC COMMENTS None 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 4.1 Approval of August 5, 2019 meeting minutes. A motion was made by Member Kiefer, seconded by Member Bonos, that this Art in Public Places Agenda Item be approved. The motion carried by unanimous vote. 4.2 Approval of August 26, 2019 meeting minutes. Attendance amended to show Puentes was present. A motion was made by Member Bryant, seconded by Member Kiefer, that this Art in Public Places Agenda Item be approved as amended. The motion carried by unanimous vote. 5. SCHEDULED ITEMS 5.1 Selection of Interim Vice Chair Per Council Policy 000-42 “Public Art”, the Vice Chair shall be elected by the APPC members on an annual basis, or when a vacancy occurs. Recommended Action: Selection of Interim Vice Chair. Bryant nominated Bonos, who self-seconded. Kiefer self-nominated, seconded by Jones-Carter. Kiefer nomination was approved by consensus. 5.2 Old Courthouse Square Public Art Project Staff will present the draft project plan and draft RFQ for the Public Art Project to be installed in Old Courthouse Square and share the project development process to date including recommendations for additional funding and community outreach. Recommended Action: Approval of Project Plan and RFQ. Staff presented the draft project plan and draft RFQ. A motion was made by Member Bryant, seconded by Vice Chair Kiefer, that this Art in Public Places Agenda Item be approved with amendments to improve project plan and RFQ. The motion carried by unanimous vote. 5.3 Project Updates Staff will present updates on current projects. Recommended Action: Information Only. Staff provided updates on current projects including ZAGG, Coffey Park Art Project, and Fire Response. Item was received and filed. 6. COMMITTEE MEMBER REPORTS 6.1 Events attended Kiefer: - Will work with Staff to set up a Pecha Kucha at the next meeting to show photos from a trip to Buenos Aires and Mendoza, Argentina as well as Chilean Patagonia sharing the amazing diversity in artistic expression. Bryant: - The Richmond Art Center - The Countersteer: Custom Motorcycles as Self-Expression exhibit. - Sonoma County Museum - Maria de Los Angeles exhibit as well as, The Way of Life exhibit which had a collabrative work done by Maria de Los Angeles and her husband, multimedia artist Ryan Bonilla. City of Santa Rosa Special Meeting Minutes Page 3 of 3 Art in Public Places Committee Special Meeting Minutes - Final November 18, 2019 Carter-Jones: - DeYoung Museum - Soul of a Nation exhibit running through March 15, 2020. The exhibit features artists from the black power movement. Will also be presenting for the Pecha Kucha at the next meeting. Bonos: - Walnut Creek Center for the Arts - DeYoung Museum - Art Trails Preview Exhibits - Sebastopol Center for the Arts, Fulton Crossing, and Corricks. 6.2 Upcoming events None 7. DEPARTMENT REPORTS Staff provided updates on the hiring of a temporary project manager, upcoming strategic planning, and new logo / branding for the Public Art Program. 8. ADJOURNMENT Chair Puentes adjourned the meeting at 4:57PM. The next regular meeting of Art in Public Places is scheduled for December 2, 2019.
