RECOMMENDATION OF THE HEALTH OFFICER OF THE COUNTY OF
SONOMA, CLIMATE ACTION SUBCOMMITTEE MEMBERS WILL BE

E-mail public comments received by the deadline will be distributed to
Subcommittee members and uploaded to the agenda prior to the start of
the Climate Action Subcommittee meeting.

This is the time when any person may address matters not listed on this
agenda, but which are within the subject matter of the jurisdiction. The public
may comment on agenda items when the item is called. Each speaker is
allowed three minutes.

3. DEPARTMENT REPORTS
This time is reserved for City staff to provide a briefing on issues of interest.
No action will be taken on these matters except to possibly place a particular
item on a future agenda for consideration.
4. NEW BUSINESS
4.1 ZERO WASTE PROGRAM UPDATE
City of Santa Rosa and Recology Sonoma Marin staff will provide an
update on each organization’s zero waste program.
City staff will focus on the implementation efforts of the Santa Rosa
Zero Waste Master Plan. Recology will provide an overview of the
services provided to the City of Santa Rosa by Recology’s Waste Zero
team in accordance with the requirements designated in the Solid
Waste Collections Services Agreement.

4.2 COOL CITIES CHALLENGE: COOL BLOCK PROGRAM
The Cool City Challenge Cool Block Program is a citizen driven climate
action strategy that is being piloted by the Empowerment Institute’s
Center for Reinventing the Planet. Members of the public have
expressed interest in Santa Rosa participating.
The City of Santa Rosa’s existing climate action policies, activities, and
strategies are documented in the Community-wide Climate Action Plan
and the Municipal Climate Action Plan and are currently planned for
updates in 2022-23.
Staff will provide an informational presentation on the Cool Block
program for the Subcommittee’s review.
