MAYOR=S OFFICE
Resolution to Extend City Center Authority (04-108)
Matthew Dorsey said that in 2003 the City Council adopted a resolution asking that bills be introduced in both
the Senate and Assembly to extend the life of the City Center Authority. He said the Assembly proposed to
extend the Authority for 5 years, while the Senate proposed that it be in perpetuity. He said a compromise
was worked out for 25 years. Therefore, it is necessary for the Council to adopt a resolution requesting that
the City Center Authority be extended for 25 years. He said today is the last day for the Assembly Committee
to deal with this resolution, therefore, it must be adopted today and taken down to the Assembly today.
Mayor Michael Lenz moved and Commissioner Matthew McCabe seconded to adopt the following
resolution:
WHEREAS, pursuant to New York State Public Authorities Law 2490-C, the Saratoga
Springs City Center Authority was created for a period of twenty-five years; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined the City of Saratoga Springs would
greatly benefit from the continuation of the Saratoga Springs City Center Authority; and
WHEREAS, bill number 6023-A has been introduced in the New York Senate and bill
number 7300-A has been introduced in the New York State Assembly both authorizing the
extension of the Saratoga Springs Center Authority for an additional twenty-five years;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby requests that
the New York State Senate pass bill number 6023-A and that the New York State Assembly

years.
