City of Saratoga Springs City Council Meeting Minutes Thursday, March 2, 2006 CITY OF SARATOGA SPRINGS CITY COUNCIL MEETING CITY COUNCIL ROOM THURSDAY, MARCH 2, 2006 5:00 P.M. PRESENT: Valerie Keehn, Mayor Commissioner John Franck, Accounts Commissioner Ron Kim, DPS Commissioner Matthew McCabe, Finance Commissioner Thomas McTygue, DPW ABSENT: Cheryl Keyrouse, Supervisor Joanne Yepsen, Supervisor STAFF PRESENT: Lynn Bachner, Deputy Commissioner Finance Michele Boxley, Deputy Commissioner Accounts Nancy Ohlin, Deputy Mayor Michael Englert, City Attorney CALL TO ORDER Mayor Valerie Keehn called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD Mayor Valerie opened the public comment period. Commissioner Matthew McCabe said he had received several telephone calls today concerning the trees that are to be cut down in the state park. He asked if there was some way that the City could get more information before that happens. Mayor Valerie Keehn said both she and Deputy Mayor Nancy Ohlin had spoken to staff at the state park and it appears that the cutting of the trees will happen. Apparently some of the trees are diseased and must come down. She said she expressed her concern but it appears that the decision is final. Deputy Mayor Nancy Ohlin said she and the Mayor were looking for a little more time to review the matter before the trees were cut. There being no one else wishing to speak, Mayor Valerie Keehn closed the public comment period. EXECUTIVE SESSION Mayor Valerie Keehn moved and Commissioner Ron Kim seconded to adjourn to executive session at 5:00 p.m. to discuss pending litigation and labor attorneys. Ayes all. Council members returned at 6:15 p.m. MAYOR’S DEPARTMENT Dreyer v. City (06-45) City of Saratoga Springs City Council Meeting Minutes Thursday, March 2, 2006 Mayor Valerie Keehn moved and Commissioner Ron Kim seconded to engage Mark Schachner as attorney in the Erin Dreyer Article 78 case, on retainer at $130/hour. The contract is subject to the review of the City Attorney and the Risk & Safety Manager. The funding will come from the self insurance line in the Accounts Department. Ayes all. Ayes: four; Nays: one (Commissioner Thomas McTygue). Motion carried. ADJOURNMENT Mayor Valerie Keehn moved and Commissioner Ron Kim seconded to adjourn the meeting at 6:20 p.m. Ayes all.
