CALL TO ORDER Commissioner Madigan called the meeting to order at 12:05 p.m. BUDGET WORKSHOP Accounts Department Commissioner Franck advised he does not have any changes at this point. He is comfortable with the figures in the budget for his department. This year’s budget is down 6.7% from last year. This is the 4th consecutive budget that he has brought forward with a decrease. They were able to same some money on the refund lines because they have been able to settle cases. Finance Department Commissioner Madigan advised she does not have any changes to her budget. There may be an increase due to a new enrollment in health coverage. Commissioner Madigan advised contingency has $150,000 set aside for emergencies and unsettled contracts, she is also making a recommendation to do a fairly large set aside from the fund balance excess for contract negotiations and settlement of contracts. She is comfortable that there is enough set aside. Budget Workshop 10/17/13 General Discussion Commissioner Madigan reminded the Council that if departments incur new hires, health insurance is covered in each department’s budget. They need to make sure they budget for that cost within their own budget. Commissioner Madigan advised the second public hearing is scheduled for Monday, November 4th at 6:45 p.m. and the next workshop is Wednesday, October 23rd at 5:30 p.m. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Madigan moved and Commissioner Mathiesen seconded to adjourn the meeting.
