Almostalltherespondents statedtheyrecycleathome. Theyfoundthereisa demandformultiplethingstoberecycledandpeoplewilljustthrowrecyclables awaywhenthereis no recyclingbinsareavailable. HannahPaolucci, student atSkidmore, advised shemetwithCommissioner Madigan, MayorKelly, and Commissioner Scirocco. Therewasalotofdiscussion ontheneedforeducationandpublicoutreach beforeimplementation. Alessandro Wedeman, astudentatSkidmore, advised theestablishment oftheprogram couldbecome costly. Responsibility willneedtobedividedandadecisionwillneedtobemadewhowillbeincharge. Matthew Cocchi, astudentatSkidmore, advisedthereisalotofpublicsupportandawareness ofthis initiative. TheNewYorkStateSolidWasteManagement Actof1988requiresmunicipalities toadoptlocal lawsorordinances regarding recyclablematerialsbySeptember 1,1992. Thisisastrongmotivator. Professor Atalan-Helicke statedthenextstepisidentifying theoptimallocationsforthebins.Skidmore has asuccessful recyclingprogramandcansharetheirinformation. Sustainable Saratogaispursuingazero wastecampaign andwillworkwiththeCityonthesocialmediacampaign. MayorKellybelievesthisisagreatidea. Commissioner Sciroccothankedeveryone formeeting withhimandtheirconcern fortheCity. Having singlestreamwillmakeiteasierfortheCitytorecycleandtheCitydoeshavetherecyclingbins.
