Ethics Board

City of Saratoga Springs Board of Ethics Minutes Thursday, January 15, 2015 Present: Justin Hogan – Chair, Courtney DeLeonardis, Brendan Chudy and John Ellis with Tony Izzo as Advisor and Trish Bush. Absent: Marilyn Rivers. The meeting was called to order at 5:06 PM in the City Hall City Council Room Approve meeting minutes from 12/11/14: Minutes accepted and ok to post. Old Business: Ethics Code Review & Revision: Copies of Tony’s latest updates were distributed. It was noted that all brackets & strikes contained in the document are out except for page 5. Review continues and completion is very close. New Business: 1) State Administrative Procedure Act is referenced in section J (1) of the Ethics Code. Tony suggests that this Act should either also be referenced in section I (1) or removed from section J (1). The Board agreed to review the documents again and discuss this at the next meeting. 2) Justin Hogan is working on the 2014 Report and will provide a draft for review. 3) Tony advises that the Procedures of the Board of Ethics also needs to be reviewed and updated. Trish will send a copy out prior to the next meeting. 4) The current Disclosure Form is not easy to understand, especially question No. 5. The Board agreed to review and discuss at the next meeting. Trish will search for sample documents to compare with our form. Trish will update the current form eliminating question #3 and incorporate the required information into the personal information line, include a space for email address, and reformat each question to include a check box for “yes – no – N/A”. Motion to Adjourn the BOE was made by Brendan Chudy and seconded by Courtney DeLeonardis.
