BOARD OF ETHICS meeting November 8, 2017
Present: J. Hogan, B. Chudy, J. Ellis Absent: M. Rivers
Meeting called to order at 5:30. No minutes to approve.
Anthony Izzo reported to the Board on a recent meeting with members of city land use
boards to review the recent revisions to the Code of Ethics as proposed by Commissioner
Mathiesen and enacted by the Council. A. Izzo stated the land use board members stayed
within the format as enacted but proposed about ten text revisions that clarified language
and modified standards that they believed made it difficult for them to do their work. The
Board asked A. Izzo to circulate its previous recommendations for ethics code changes to
the land use boards along with the land use board members’ own revisions. A. Izzo will
keep the Board informed of progress.
INQUIRIES
Anthony Izzo distributed copies of two inquiries submitted by Hank Kuczynski regarding
the conduct of two members of the Charter Review Commission. The Board reviewed the
issues raised in the inquiry but did not proceed with a more detailed analysis at this
meeting. Instead, J. Hogan moved that A. Izzo shall send a letter to Mr. Kuczynski and
ask him if he wishes to appear in person at the Board’s next meeting on 11/29, or instead
to send more specific and detailed information to the Board showing what sections of the
Code of Ethics he contends the individuals have violated. The information should be as
specific as possible. Second by B. Chudy. Ayes all.
J. Ellis pointed out that the name of former Board member Courtney DeLeonardis
remains on a form on the Board’s website and should be deleted as soon as possible.
J. Hogan moved to adjourn. Second by B. Chudy. Ayes all. Adjourned 6:10
