Attendance: Derrick Legall, Amy Smith, Michelle Merola, Robert Manasier, and John Hirliman The March 31, 2020 Field User Group meeting is postponed until further notice. 1. Discussion: Program and Facility Updates John Hirliman reported to the Commission that the Ice Rinks and the Recreation Center are closed. Everyone is working from LogMeIn. Payments are being processed electronically. Personnel are being paid every two weeks. Permanent part-time staff will be continued to be paid at 15 hours per week during this time. Finance office is good until June 30, 2020. The Recreation Department have been Zoom meeting once a week. Recreation Center and Ice Rink facilities are closed. Park usage was up. Derrick Legall saw plastic covers around the playgrounds at the State Park. Michelle Merola was concerned that the playgrounds equipment held viruses and were not safe. Derrick Legall had requested to help people who don’t protect themselves to close playground equipment and cover the basketball rims. He saw kids playing basketball. West Side Rec. was being finished. The Police Department was out of the Recreation Center. The moving schedule had been delayed. This had been a big impact. City Hall Construction inside had stopped. Planning and Building area was not completed. The 4/3/2020 Veterans Memorial Park Dug Out ceremony has been postponed. The Recreation Commission is discussing recommending the naming of the Scott Johnson Recreation Center. Amy Smith asked if the Mayor knew. John Hirliman said the Commissioner had support. John Hirliman asked to fill out the 2020 Census. Everyone counted helps Recreation. Amy Smith asked John Hirliman how he was doing. He explained that it’s been challenging, sitting on the sidelines. John Hirliman had to cut his vacation short. The Clinic numbers were great prior to cancelling. It has been a challenge. The Department was looking at alternative programs. Amy Smith understood as everything had stopped. She got to go to the hotel every day. She enjoyed spending time with the boys. The silver lining was to see people with family and bringing families together. VLT funding was back in the budget. Michelle Merola stated she was spending time with her daughter. The parks will remain open to the public but no scheduled groups or organizations. John Hirliman will contact the City with the recommendation. Derrick Legall thanked everyone. Stay safe.
