The award is granted by New York State through the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS). The grant application is a partnership between the Schenectady Police Department, Schenectady County District Attorney's Office, Schenectady County Probation Department and the Schenectady County Sheriffs. The total grant award is $800,000, with the Schenectady Police Department receiving $351,334. Please see the attached budget summary for a detailed breakdown of funding received by the Police Department, as well as funding received by our partner agencies. The grant requires no match by the City of Schenectady. Recommendation: The Police Department recommends acceptance of the GIVE grant. Wallin, P.E., City Engineer & SUBJECT: Award the Bid and Contract for the "Erie Boulevard Preservation Project" to Callanan Industries, Inc. in the amount of $4,496,229.90 TO BE PLACED ON COUNCIL AGENDA OF: May 22, 2017 Background Information: In response to a solicitation for projects by the Capital District Transportation Committee for the 2016-2021 Transportation Improvement Program the City submitted the Preservation of Erie Blvd between Union Street and the Nott Street roundabout. The project was evaluated and awarded $1.517M dollars for the preservation ofthe roadway. To supplement this funding and create a unified corridor similar to that completed on Erie in 2014 the City will be adding a local share to this project of $3M comprised of both General and Sewer Capital funds. This local share will incorporate curbs, sidewalks, signal replacement, landscaping, sewer repairs, sewer lining and smart lighting. Evaluation/Analysis: The Engineering Department solicited and received bids on May 10, 2017 with low bid of $4,496,229.90 from Callanan Industries, Inc. of Albany, NY. The cost and expense of this work is to be charged to a Capital Code which is specifically set up for this project. Recommendation: Authorize the Mayor to enter into a contract with Callanan Industries, Inc. for the "Erie Boulevard Preservation Project" in the amount of $4,496,229.90.
