This project will allow for larger boats to dock at the Harbor, which will improve public access to and along the canal. This project supports the grant priority “Celebrating the Bicentennial of the Erie Canal- Improving Public Waterfront Access for Canal Communities”. Evaluation/Analysis: The New York State Department of State under the Environmental Protection Fund Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (EPF LWRP)requires the City of Schenectady to be the lead applicant, and it appears that continued progress on the waterfront redevelopment projectwill drive further economic development.The City will seek NYS funding for eligible project costs, with the required minimum match of 15% provided by the project developer. Total local project match will be provided by the Developer of the site. Recommendation: That City Council pass a resolution authorizing the Mayor on behalf of the City of Schenectady to apply for funds for the Mohawk Harbor Vessel Dockage. The remaining parcels are privately owned vacant lots that should be restored to the taxable portion of the assessment roll. Recommendation: The Law Department recommends restoring taxable status to these 16 parcels.
