Schenectady City Council to Hold a Special
Health & Recreation Committee Meeting
WHEN: Monday, March 31, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.

DETAILS: Schenectady City Council will hold a special Health & Recreation Committee Meeting to finalize
recommendations regarding pool rules and fees.

Pool Rules (Draft for Discussion)
* LIFEGUARDS ARE THE AUTHORITIES AT THE POOLS, AND THEIR DIRECTIONS MUST BE FOLLOWED
ANYONE NOT FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE
* Everyone swimming in the pool must wear swimwear. (No one is allowed to swim in their underwear)
* Children up to 5 year olds must have an adult in the pool with them.
* Children under 3 years old, or not fully potty-trained, must wear a swim diaper with a swimsuit.
REGULAR DIAPERS ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR USE IN WATER AND ARE NOT ALLOWED
* Children ages 5-10 must have an adult on the pool deck with them.
* Schenectady residents: Anyone over 10 years old must have (Schenectady City School District) photo ID.
Non-Schenectady residents: Anyone over 10 years old must have photo ID.
Waiting Times
* There is a 30-minute wait after last sight of lighting/sound of a storm

* There is a 60-minute wait to after a biological hazard cleanup

Prohibited Items / Behavior
* No diving allowed
* No running, horseplay, running on pool deck, or foul language
* All floatation devices MUST BE US COAST GUARD APPROVED
* No toys, masks/fins, or inflatables allowed in the pool
* No nose blowing, spitting, urinating, or discharging of fecal matter allowed in the pool
* No smoking or vaping in the park
* No chewing tobacco or gum in the pool area
* No food allowed in the pool area
* No alcohol or use of illegall drugs allowed in the park
* No glass containtainers in the pool area
* No hard coolers (ONLY SMALL, SOFT LUNCH BOX TYPE COOLERS ALLOWED)
* No knives, firearms, or weapons of any kind
* No animals, except for service animals, are allowed in the pool area.
* No loud music or audio systems allowed in the pool area
* No pop-ups, except for beach pop-ups for babys and toddlers
* All trash must be disposed of properly
