Council Minutes City Hall Council Chambers January 2, 2024 In compliance with the provisions of the City Charter, the Mayor-elect, members of Council, and members of Council-elect of the City of Shaker Heights, met this date at 6:10 p.m. for the purpose of organization. * * * * Video of this meeting may be found here through January 2, 2027. * * * * Mayor Weiss thanked those present including former Mayors and members of Council, as well as family members. He stated that elected officials work very hard and this Council in particular who take their job very seriously. In these Council Chambers in City Hall we do things differently, and although people will disagree they will do it in a civil and respectful way. We like to set the example by doing it the right way, which is the only way to make a change in this country. * * * * Clerk of Council Jeri E. Chaikin advised that the Board of Elections certified the results of the November 7, 2023 General Election as follows: Mayor Term Expiring December 31, 2027 - David E. Moore - Carmella Williams Mayor Weiss thanked Anne Keller for administering the oath of office to members of Council. * * * * Mayor Weiss called the organizational meeting of the Shaker Heights City Council to order. Council members present: Ms. Bixenstine, Mr. Malone, Mrs. Moore, Mr. Roeder, Ms. Anne Williams, Ms. Carmella Williams Council members absent: Mr. Claytor * * * * It was moved by Mr. Malone and Ms. Anne Williams, that Council member Ms. Carmella Williams serve as Vice-Mayor of City Council. Roll Call: Ayes: Ms. Bixenstine, Mr. Malone, Mrs. Moore, Mr. Roeder, Ms. Anne Williams, Ms. Carmella Williams Nays: None Motion Carried * * * * It was moved by Ms. Carmella Williams and seconded by Ms. Anne Williams that Council member Mr. Malone be elected the Council representative on the City Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals.
