MINUTES City Council Meeting Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 7:00 PM Carnegie Town Hall, 235 West 10th St., Sioux Falls, South Dakota 57104 CALL TO ORDER 1. Western Ave., Parcel #47135, for 2019 property taxes in the amount of $19.66. Reason: Lot H2 was split out & purchased by the City of Sioux Falls which is an exempt entity on March 19th, 2019. The value for Lot H2 is $1,365 for and per the request are submitting an abatement for this value for the April through December 2019 taxes pay 2020. 31. Augustana University, 2001 S. Summit Ave., Parcel #50616, for 2019 property taxes in the amount of $1,885.22. Reason: The property is exempt from the tax. 32. Mark and Kathy Hagen, 3201 S. Blue Grass Ct., Parcel #54423, for 2019 property taxes in the amount of $1,318.82. Reason: Structures have been removed after the assessment date (upon verification by the director of equalization). 33. Linda and Allen Thygeson, Unit 201 Jones 421 Condominiums, Parcel #88668, for 2019 property taxes in the amount of $2,870.53. Reason: This abatement is being requested for the owner occupied rate for the 2019 taxes pay 2020. The prior owner JONES421 LLC, had applied for contractor owner occupied on this property on March 8, 2018. Per the statute and per their application they can claim contractor owner occupied on the property for up to 2 years as long as the guidelines are met. They should have maintained the owner occupied status for the 2019 taxes pay 2020 but it was incorrectly removed by our office. REGULAR AGENDA 34. PUBLIC INPUT Bob Kolbe spoke about COVID-19, the freedom of people have to talk, and primary ads. David Zokaites spoke about a rally permit and progressive housing. Tim Stanga spoke about government corruption and the recent election. Sierra Broussard spoke about the recent protest, riot and the police department.
