MINUTES Joint Sioux Falls City Council - Minnehaha County Commission Meeting Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 5:00 PM Carnegie Town Hall, 235 W. 10th St., Sioux Falls, SD 57104 CALL TO ORDER MEETING ROLL CALL Present: Council Member Miranda Basye, Council Member Sarah Cole, Council Member Rich Merkouris, Council Member Jennifer Sigette, Council Member Curt Soehl, Council Member Ryan Spellerberg, Council Member Richard L. Thomason, Council Member David Barranco Absent: Mayor Paul TenHaken Present: Minnehaha County Commissioner Jean Bender, Minnehaha County Commissioner Jen Bleyenberg, Minnehaha County Commissioner Dean Karsky Minnehaha County Commissioner Joe Kippley. Absent: Minnehaha County Commissioner Gerald Beninga PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE REGULAR AGENDA ITEMS APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA A motion was made by Council Member Cole and seconded by Council Member Merkouris to approve the Agenda. Roll call vote to approve. 8 Yes: Basye, Cole, Merkouris, Sigette, Soehl, Spellerberg, Thomason, Barranco; 0 No: (None). Motion Passed. ORDINANCES, RESOLUTIONS, INFORMATIONAL ITEMS 1. Joint Budget Hearing for Siouxland Heritage Museum by Bill Hoskins A motion was made by Council Member Sigette and seconded by Council Member Basye to approve Item 1. Roll call vote to approve. 8 Yes: Basye, Cole, Merkouris, Sigette, Soehl, Spellerberg, Thomason, Barranco; 0 No: (None). Motion Passed.  The Minnehaha County Commission also approved Item 1 by a separate motion and vote. 2. Joint Budget Hearing for Metro Communications by Mike Gramlick A motion was made by Council Member Thomason and seconded by Council Member Spellerberg to approve Item 2. Roll call vote to approve. 8 Yes: Basye, Cole, Merkouris, Sigette, Soehl, Spellerberg, Thomason, Barranco; 0 No: (None). Motion Passed. The Minnehaha County Commission also approved Item 2 by a separate motion and vote. 3. Joint Budget Hearing for Siouxland Libraries by Jodi Fick A motion was made by Council Member Sigette and seconded by Council Member Thomason to approve Item 3. Roll call vote to approve. 8 Yes: Basye, Cole, Merkouris, Sigette, Soehl, Spellerberg, Thomason, Barranco; 0 No: (None). Motion Passed. The Minnehaha County Commission also approved Item 3 by a separate motion and vote. PUBLIC INPUT Chad Bishop spoke on COVID-19, antibodies statistics, findings, and studies.
