MINUTES Operations Committee Meeting Monday, June 3, 2024 at 3:00 PM Carnegie Town Hall, 235 West 10th St., Sioux Falls, South Dakota 57104 1. Call to Order Committee Chair Rich Merkouris called the meeting to order at 3 p.m. 2. Approval of Minutes A. Tuesday, November 7, 2023 A motion was made by Committee Member Barranco and seconded by Committee Member Soehl to approve the minutes of Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Voice vote to approve. Motion Passed. 3. Topics A. Consider a motion recommending to the City Council a resolution designating the Dakota Scout as the official newspaper for the City of Sioux Falls, SD. Jermery Washingon, City Clerk, gave a background regarding the City's official newspaper and explained that the Argus Leader and the Dakota Scout meet publishing requirements following the legislature passage of SB75. Some questions were asked by the committee that were answered by the City Clerk and the City Attorney. Representatives present from the Argus Leader and the Dakota Scout addressed the committee, and further committee questions were answered by.the Argus Leader, and the Dakota Scout. A detailed discussion by the committee followed. A motion was made by Committee Member Barranco and seconded by Committee Member Basye to recommend to the City Council that it approve the resolution designating the Dakota Scout as the official newspaper for the City of Sioux Falls, SD. Roll call vote to recommend approval. 3 Yes: Merkouris, Barranco, Basye; 1 No: Soehl. Motion Passed. 4. Public Comment There was none. 5.
