Chairman Helland called for a voice vote. All members voted yes. Motion Passed. RECOGNITION OF SERVICE Planning & Building Services Director Mike Cooper presented service awards to Chairman Erik Helland for serving 7 years and newly elected City Councilman Greg Neitzert for serving 5 years. NEW BUSINESS Case BOA-004537-2016 Variance in the required rear yard setback from 25’ to 19’-10”. Applicants: Todd & Dana Wohlwend Address: 6105 W. Queens Cir. A motion was made by Norman, seconded by Henning to approve a variance in the required rear yard setback from 25’ to 19’-10”. Vote to approve: Roll Call: Yeses, Rients, Norman, 2. Noes, Everett, Henning Helland, 3. Motion failed. Variance denied. 1 Case BOA-004544-2016 Variance in (1) the allowable size for an accessory building (detached garage) from 848 sq. ft. to 960 sq. ft. and (2) in the required front yard setback from 20’ to 15.9’. Applicant: Gerald and Julie McGovern Address: 1101 N. Prairie Ave. The applicant (Julie McGovern) requested to defer the variance requests until the next meeting. During the applicants request the board had several questions for the applicant and zoning manager for meeting the allowable size and location of the ordinance. The board discussion allowed the applicant to review all options for complying with ordinance. The property is a corner lot with an alley access and several options are available for to the applicant. The applicant requested a deferral. Vote to approve: No action was taken by the board as the applicant has requested a deferral until next meeting. OTHER BUSINESS DISCUSSION TO ELECT NEW OFFICERS (CHAIR & VICE CHAIR) Board of Adjustment members will vote to elect new officers (Chair & Vice Chair) at the next scheduled meeting.
