CALL TO ORDER II. FLAG SALUTE III. ROLL CALL Present: 7 - McConnell, Hunter, Swanson, Miyasato, Eisenbeisz, Guevin, and Potrzuski IV. PERSONS TO BE HEARD None. V. NEW BUSINESS: 15-225 Confidential matters involving the Sitka Police Department (executive session anticipated) A motion was made by Miyasato to go into executive session to discuss confidential matters involving the Sitka Police Department under the statutory categories of discussing subjects that tend to prejudice the reputation and character of any person and to discuss matters, the immediate knowledge of which would adversely affect the finances of the City and Borough of Sitka and invite in Police Chief, Sheldon Schmitt, Lieutenant Jeff Ankerfelt and Lieutenant Lance Ewers. The motion PASSED by a unanimous voice vote. Shannon Haugland of the Daily Sitka Sentinel reminded the Assembly to stay on topic and speak to those items that only needed to be discussed in executive session. CITY AND BOROUGH OF SITKA Page 1 City and Borough Assembly Minutes - Final November 5, 2015 A motion was made by Miyasato to reconvene as the Assembly in regular session. The motion PASSED by a unanimous voice vote. The Assembly made the following statement, "The Assembly has heard the concerns of the community and met with the Police staff to ask questions and be briefed on the facts surrounding the case. An independent investigation was requested by Chief Schmitt this past Tuesday. The Assembly has complete confidence in our local Police force and appreciates all that they are doing for Sitka." VI. ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Miyasato to ADJOURN. Hearing no objections, the meeting ADJOURNED at 8:00pm.
