Snohomish County Council Community Safety and Justice Committee Meeting Minutes Strom Peterson, Committee Chair Jared Mead, Committee Vice-Chair Committee Members: Sam Low, Nate Nehring, Megan Dunn Nicole Gorle, Senior Legislative Analyst Joshua Thompson, Legislative Aide Lisa Campfield, Assistant Clerk of the Council Tuesday, April 25, 2023 1:00 PM Jackson Board Room & Remote Meeting PRESENT: Committee Chair Peterson (not present) Committee Vice-Chair Mead Committee Member Low Committee Member Nehring Committee Member Dunn (remote) Nicole Gorle, Council Staff Lisa Campfield, Asst. Clerk of the Council CALL TO ORDER Committee Vice-Chair Mead called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. and provided instructions for those wishing to provide public comment for both in-person and remote via Zoom. ROLL CALL The clerk called the roll and stated that four members were present. PUBLIC COMMENT There were no persons present wishing to provide public comment. Page 1 of 2 Community Safety and Justice Meeting Minutes April 25, 2023 Committee ACTION ITEMS 1. Ordinance 23-042, related to the 2023 Budget; making an 2023-0438 emergency appropriation in the Special Revenue Fund 100 to increase expenditure authority to fund courthouse security improvements Nicole Gorle, Sr. Legislative Analyst, provided a staff report. She said that this ordinance would approve an emergency budget appropriation in Fund 100 in the amount of $500,000.00 for courthouse security improvements. Ms. Gorle responded to a question from Committee Member Low regarding fiscal appropriations from 2022. ACTION: Move to Regular Agenda, General Legislative Session April 26th to set time and date for a public hearing. 2. Motion 23-154, approving 4th amendment to 2021 contract for 2023-0409 special services Nicole Gorle, Sr. Legislative Analyst, provided a staff report and explained that this amendment would increase the not-to-exceed amount by an additional $25,000.00, for a total contract limit of $175,000.00. ACTION: Move to Consent Agenda, General Legislative Session May 3rd for consideration. Meeting adjourned at 1:04 p.m. Page 2 of 2
