Snohomish County Council Council Meeting Meeting Minutes Jared Mead, Council Chair Nate Nehring, Council Vice-Chair Councilmembers: Sam Low, Megan Dunn, Strom Peterson Tuesday, June 13, 2023 1:00 PM Jackson Board Room Legislative Analyst Interviews PRESENT: Council Chair Mead Vice-Chair Nehring Councilmember Low Councilmember Dunn Councilmember Peterson Heidi Beazizo, Chief of Staff Cynthia Foley, Candidate Robin Fenn, Candidate Debbie Eco, Clerk of the Council 1. Call to Order Chair Mead called the Council to order at 1:00 p.m. and provided instructions for those wishing to provide public comment for both in-person and remote via Zoom. 2. Roll Call The clerk called the roll and stated that all five members were present. 3. Public Comment There were no persons present wishing to provide public comment. Chair Mead thanked the analyst team and candidates for being here today. Councilmembers introduced themselves to the candidates and Heidi Beazizo, Chief of Staff, explained the process for today’s interviews. Page 1 of 2 Council Meeting Meeting Minutes June 13, 2023 4. Council Interviews Candidates for Legislative Analyst Councilmembers interviewed the following candidates for the open Legislative Analyst position: Cynthia Foley Robin Fenn EXECUTIVE SESSION Personnel Matters Pursuant to RCW 42.30.110(1)(g) At 1:47 p.m. Heidi Beazizo, Chief of Staff, stated there is a need for an Executive Session to evaluate the qualifications of an applicant for public employment, pursuant to RCW 42.30.110(1)(g) for an estimated duration of 10 minutes with no anticipated action to follow. PRESENT: Council Chair Mead Council Vice-Chair Nehring Councilmember Low Councilmember Dunn Councilmember Peterson Heidi Beazizo, Chief of Staff Jim Martin, Council Staff Nicole Gorle, Council Staff Deb Bell, Council Staff Ryan Countryman, Council Staff Executive Session began at 1:50 p.m. for an initial 10 minutes to 2:00 p.m. At 2:00 p.m., the Chair extended the Executive Session three minutes to 2:03 p.m. At 2:03 p.m., the Chair extended the Executive Session five minutes to 2:08 p.m. At 2:08 p.m., the Chair extended the Executive Session two minutes to 2:10 p.m. At 2:12 p.m., the Chair extended the Executive Session three minutes to 2:15 p.m. At 2:15 p.m., the Chair extended the Executive Session five minutes to 2:20 p.m. The Executive Session ended at 2:20 p.m. At 2:20 p.m., Chair Mead called the Council back to order. He thanked the candidates for coming in and explained that the Chief of Staff would be in touch within the next week. There being no further business, Chair Mead adjourned the Council for the day at 2:21 p.m. Page 2 of 2
