Drewel Building & Remote Meeting SPECIAL MEETING CALL TO ORDER Council Chair Mead called the public hearing to order at 11:10 a.m. ROLL CALL The clerk called the roll and stated that all five members were present. ACTION ITEMS PRESENT: Council Chair Mead Council Vice-Chair Nehring Councilmember Low (remote) Councilmember Dunn Councilmember Peterson Jim Martin, Council Staff Elena Lao, Deputy Clerk of the Council 1. Ordinance 23-078, relating to County businesses, requiring the 2023-0905 acceptance of cash as payment for goods and/or services, adding a new Chapter 6.70 SCC, and providing an effective date Council Chair Mead opened the hearing and the clerk read the ordinance title into the record. Page 1 of 2 Public Hearings Meeting Minutes September 27, 2023 Jim Martin, Senior Legislative Analyst, provided an overview of the proposed ordinance and explained the three proposed amendments. Council Chair Mead opened the hearing for public testimony. There being no persons present wishing to testify, he called for a motion or discussion of the Council. Discussion ensued to continue the public hearing to allow for additional time to seek feedback from businesses, clarify provisions in proposed Amendment 3, and look into outreach to notify businesses. Council Chair Mead noted that public testimony will remain open until the continuance of the public hearing. ACTION: Council Vice-Chair Nehring made a motion to continue the public hearing for Ordinance 23-078 to October 25, 2023, at the hour of 10:30 a.m. Councilmember Peterson seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
