Water Break Emergency North Lake: The board discussed the water break emergency. There have been
twelve (12) water breaks in the last week, most of them occurring on North Lake Street. They are close
together, and it seems after every repair the increase in pressure causes a new break to occur.
Michelle Henke stated that there are $18,000 available in the capital improvement fund that could be
used for new water line. Tom Pellittieri stated it will be approximately $100/foot, and this would be a
temporary fix- the line still needs replaced as a whole on North Lake. It was discussed if it would be
possible to postpone the Maroy Project and use ARPA funds to permanently replace a portion of North
Lake water line. The fiscal officer stated that this would need to go to council for approval.
Zoltan Zoltai requested an approximate timeline. It was decided that they need to verify supplies will be
available at Core & Main, and that the new pipe would be placed next to the old pipe simultaneously as
to not disrupt service. It is estimated it would take about 1-1.5 weeks. Tom Pellittieri identified the most
critical area to be from the southeast corner of Juanita and North Lake Street heading North. Michelle
Henke stated she will need the costs, an ordinance will be created, and there will need to be an
emergency council meeting to approve.
Zoltan Zoltai moved for appropriation of funding for permanent replacement of the water line from the
southeast corner of Juanita & North Lake Street moving North as far as funds and resources will allow, in
order to address the current emergency needs to provide water service to customers. Mark Leshinski
seconded. The roll was called, Zoltan Zoltai & Mark Leshinski were in favor. Tom Pellittieri abstained.
The motion passed.
Tom Pellittieri moved to adjourn the meeting. Mark Leshinski seconded. The roll was called with all in
favor.
Respectfully submitted, Alexandra Sabine, Water Board Clerk
