OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL Regular Meeting South Milwaukee March 3, 2020 The Regular Meeting of the Common Council was called to order by Mayor Brooks at 7:00 p.m. On roll, all were present except Pieper who was excused. The meeting was prefaced by the Pledge of Allegiance. Alderperson Briesemeister indicated that item number ten should be deleted and Alderperson Bartoshevich indicated a correction for item number four, should read Board of Health, not Board of Education. Under President of the Council, Bartoshevich/Clark moved to adopt the items in the consent agenda: minutes from the February 19, 2020 Common Council meeting; approval of Schedule of Vouchers for the period ending February 29, 2020 in the amount of $4,395,010.35, approval of request for extension of premise for the "Class B" Combination license held by Moran's Pub II, LLC/James Moran, Agent, for container bar in front of premise from March 13, 2020 through March 18, 2020. All voted aye, motion carried. Council Representative Alderperson Craig Maass gave a summary report on the Water/Wastewater Commission. Wastewater sewer scoping is ahead of scheduled, yearly cleaning is 25% completed. Water main breaks are substantially down from previous years, security cameras are being updated and some remodeling is being done. Bartoshevich reminded Council that the April 7, 2020 Council meeting was cancelled and resched- uled to April 8, 2020 due to the Spring Election. Bartoshevich reminded Council that Alderperson Peggy Clark will give a summary report on the Board of Health at the April 8, 2020 Common Council meeting. Bartoshevich updated on the South Milwaukee Earth Day event to be held on April 25, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. — 12:00 noon. Taking LP tanks this year, but will collect for pick up by Amerigas, at a fee to the city. LP tanks should not be taken to the self-deposit station. Volunteers are invited to lunch at the Senior Center following the clean-up event. Under Finance Committee, Bukowski/Clark moved to approve the 2020/2021 Capital Improvements program as drafted. On roll, all voted aye. Motion carried. Bukowski/Clark moved to adopt Resolution No. 20-02 Terminating the City of South Milwaukee Tax Incremental District Number 4. All voted aye, motion carried. Under Human Resources Committee, Navarro/Stoner moved to authorize a starting hourly wage of $33.78 and one week of additional vacation for Wastewater Treatment Facility Assistant Superinten- dent Ivan Zaremba. All voted aye, motion carried. Under Legislation & Permits Committee, Briesemeister/Maass moved to accept the recommendation of the Legislation & Permits Committee to revoke the "Class B" Combination license held by Nelson Blas for the premise at 1009 Milwaukee Avenue. On roll, all voted aye. Motion carried. BriesemeisterfMaass moved to approve an application for bartender license for the 2019-2020 period filed by Benjamin L. Rivera, 1016A W. Washington St., Milwaukee. All voted aye, motion carried. Under Reports of the Mayor, City Clerk Karen Kastenson gave a brief presentation regarding the 2020 U.S. Census. Under Miscellaneous Business, Bartoshevich/Clark moved to authorize the proper city officials to enter into an agreement with the Milwaukee Police Department to provide law enforcement assis- tance during the Democratic National Convention, to be fully reimbursement by the DNC. On roll all voted aye. Motion carried. There being no further business to discuss, Stoner/Navarro moved to adjourn at 7:45 p.m. All voted aye, motion carried.
