SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TX 78597 1. Call to Order. Meeting was called to order at 2:013 PM by Angie Cantu, Environmental Health Executive Assistant Members in attendance were, Angie Cantu, Sherry Pindard and Jesse Gonzalez from Friends of Animal Rescue, Staff present: Victor Baldovinos, Environmental Health Director 2. Pledge of Allegiance. Angie Cantu led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance. 3. Public Comments and Announcements: 4. Regular Agenda. 4.1. Approve the minutes from the August 29, 2025 Animal Advisory Committee meeting. Motion to approve by Sherry Pindard and seconded by Jesse Gonzalez. Motion passed unanimously. 4.2. Friends of Animal Rescue reports: a. 2nd Quarter animal stats – Jesse only has January so far. He is still working on February and March. January had a total of 31 intakes with 24 from Code Enforcement. Code brought in 2 dogs, 10 cats, 2 deceased cats, 9 possums and 1 bird. 1 seagull received from the police department. Residents and/or tourists brought in 4 cats, 1 possum and 1 bird. The total intake for January was 2 dogs, 14 cats, 2 deceased cats, 10 possums and 3 birds. b. Spring Break Hours – Operating at normal hours. 7:30am to 5:30pm. Jessica will be on call afterhours. 4.3 Environmental Health Services report on Spring Break hours for Animal Control. Victor Baldovinos states that Texas week hours will be 7am to midnight. The rest of the time will be sunup to sundown. 4.4 Discussion and Action to approve the absences of Sherry Pindard from the July 16, 2024, September 26, 2024, and February 25, 2025 Animal Advisory Committee meetings. Motion to approve these absences as excused by Jesse Gonzalez and seconded by Angie Cantu. Motion passed unanimously. 5. Adjourn.
