SOUTH ST. PAUL CITY COUNCIL
MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 6, 2017
Mayor James Francis called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at 7:15 p.m. on Monday,
November 6, 2017.
ROLL CALL:

Councilmembers Flatley, Forester, Hansen, Podgorski,
Rothecker and Seaberg
Absent: None

5a) Presentation: Luther Memorial Church Thanksgiving Dinner Community Invitation
Valerie Gay, Kristi Oberpriller and Cadence Sundly presented the second annual
Thanksgiving dinner, to be held November 16, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Luther
Memorial Church, located at 315 15th Avenue North.
5b) Presentation: South St. Paul Jaycees
Kahra Biehl and Cerrisa Howell-Brown presented a $500.00 check donation from the South
St. Paul Jaycees to the South St. Paul Parks and Recreation Department. They also
discussed the Mix and Mingle event to be held November 16, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. to
9:00 p.m. at the Croatian Hall, located at 445 2nd Avenue South. This event is for anyone
ages 18 to 40 who is interested in joining the South St. Paul Jaycees organization.
5c) Presentation: Music Unites – Be the Change Event
Tim Leonard, Founder of “Music Unites Against Bullying” presented the Music Unites – Be
the Change event to be held November 18, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at VFW Post
295, located at 111 Concord Exchange South. This event is for all ages and may become an
annual event in South St. Paul. All proceeds to benefit the South St. Paul School District.
Mayor Francis read a proclamation in support of the event and proclaimed November 12th to
18th as Unity Week in South St. Paul.
6) Citizens’ Comments
Bernie Beerman, 206 Spruce Street East, discussed the possibility of residents being
approached by a dog not under owner command and requested the City consider putting
information in the newsletter on what to do in the event an animal becomes aggressive.
