THE FOLLOWING MINUTES ARE SUBJECT TO MODIFICATION AND ARE NOT OFFICIAL MINUTES UNTIL APPROVED BY THE SPRING HILL PARKS ADVISORY BOARD Spring Hill Parks Advisory Board Meeting Minutes February 19, 2018 CALL TO ORDER Doug D’Albini called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ROLL CALL Present: Doug D’Albini Laila Reis Mark Squire Tommy Holland Absent: George Eshnaur Staff Present: Ryan Crowley, Parks Superintendent Brian Cook, Parks Maintenance Worker II Meeting Attendees: Frank Jenkins, City Attorney APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion by Laila Reis, seconded by Mark Squire to approve the agenda. Motion carried. FORMAL BOARD ITEMS 1. Approval of Minutes: November 20, 2017 Motion by Laila Reis, seconded by Mark Squire to approve minutes. Motion carried. 2. Presentation by Frank Jenkins. a. Reviewed Ordinance No. 2017-04 relating to the prohibition of discrimination or harassment. b. Provided information regarding Kansas Open Meetings Act. DISCUSSION  Event Planning 2018 o Daffodil Days – To celebrate Arbor Day the Board will continue to provide a tree giveaway and will also help facilitate and man the tricycle obstacle course with the SHRC. o Fishing Derby – Mr. Squire agreed to contact Bass Pro in hopes of receiving donations in the form of bait/tackle, prizes and education information. o Fall Festival – The Board discussed providing daffodil bulbs as a giveaway to residents. Focusing conversation on recycling and possibly having a raffle that may include a Grass Pad gift certificates. o Home Town Holidays – Provide drinks such as hot chocolate and coffee. Spring Hill Green Board Meeting Minutes Page 1 of 2 THE FOLLOWING MINUTES ARE SUBJECT TO MODIFICATION AND ARE NOT OFFICIAL MINUTES UNTIL APPROVED BY THE SPRING HILL PARKS ADVISORY BOARD STAFF REPORTS  Mr. Crowley has applied for Spring Hill to join Johnson County in a Recycling Education Grant. More information on the grant will be available in late March.  Veteran’s Park is underway, crews have been clearing the area.  Spring Hill Recreation Commission has shown interest in a joint effort to pay for a new Parks Master Plan. ANNOUNCEMENTS & REPORTS OTHER BUSINESS  Mr. Holland made mention of interest in Disc Golf at the Veteran’s Park location or if there was a more suitable area. Mr. Crowley confirmed there will not be adequate space at Veteran’s Park however will seek an area for disc golf in the future. ADJOURN Motion by Mark Squire, seconded by Laila Reis to adjourn.
