THE FOLLOWING MINUTES ARE SUBJECT TO MODIFICATION AND ARE NOT OFFICIAL MINUTES UNTIL APPROVED BY THE SPRING HILL PARKS ADVISORY BOARD Spring Hill Parks Advisory Board Meeting Minutes July 16, 2018 CALL TO ORDER Doug D’Albini called the meeting to order at 5.59 p.m. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ROLL CALL Present: Doug D’Albini George Eshnaur Mark Squire Tommy Holland APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion by Mark Squire to amend the agenda to add discussion of the Fall Festival plans. Motion seconded by Tommy Holland. Motion carried to amend the agenda. Motion by Tommy Holland to approve amended agenda, seconded by George Eshnaur to approve the agenda. Motion carried. FORMAL BOARD ITEMS 1. Approval of Minutes: May 21, 2018 Motion by Mark Squire, seconded by George Eshnaur to approve minutes. Motion carried. DISCUSSION o Fishing Derby – Was well attended by 80-100 children. Ryan will send a formal thank you note to Cabela’s for their donation. o Ryan Crowley discussed the Johnson County Recycling Education Effort Spring Hill has joined with surrounding communities. There was a community assessment of sorts done to gauge the participation and quality of current recycling. Spring Hill is mostly on par with the surrounding communities. The education effort will focus on recycling the right items the right way. There will be social media campaigns and mailers as an effort to educate the public on best practices when recycling. o The park area in the Woodland Ridge subdivision will be renamed. Mr. Crowley asked members to consider nominations for new park names. STAFF REPORTS  The Civic Center will be complete soon, staff may begin moving in as soon as August 4th.  Veteran’s Park will be staked soon, work will resume after the Civic Center Project is complete.  The Aquatic Center had repairs completed and will be closing August 12th. As well as having a raffle that will include a Grass Pad gift certificates, redbud trees and other native trees and bushes. They would like enough items to do 1 drawing per hour of the event. Members will be focusing conversation with participants around local parks, while having information available on recycling. o George Eshnaur would like to nominate Mark Squire to Vice Chairman. Mark Squire accepted the nomination. Motion seconded by Tommy Holland. Motion carried. ADJOURN Motion by Mark Squire, seconded by George Eshnaur to adjourn. Motion carried.
