THE FOLLOWING MINUTES ARE SUBJECT TO MODIFICATION AND ARE NOT OFFICIAL MINUTES UNTIL APPROVED BY THE SPRING HILL PARKS ADVISORY BOARD Spring Hill Parks Advisory Board Meeting Minutes September 17, 2018 CALL TO ORDER Doug D’Albini called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ROLL CALL Present: Doug D’Albini George Eshnaur Mark Squire Tommy Holland APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion by Tommy Holland to approve amended agenda, seconded by Mark Squire to approve the agenda. Motion carried. FORMAL BOARD ITEMS 1. Approval of Minutes: July 16, 2018 Motion by Mark Squire, seconded by George Eshnaur to approve minutes. Motion carried. DISCUSSION o The park area in the Woodland Ridge subdivision will be renamed. Suggested names from Mr. Holland are Willow Park, Blue Stem park, Meadowlark Park. The Board also discussed renaming it Park at Woodland Ridge. The preferred suggestion was Willow Park considering it is a native tree and there are several willow trees in that area. o Board members signed up for times at the Parks Advisory Board Booth at the Fall Festival September 29th from 10 am – 5 pm. The booth will have information about City Parks, recycling education and a raffle. The raffle will be drawn once per hour, you must be present to win. o Mr. Eshnaur volunteered to write a recommendation to the City Council encouraging City Offices to recycle. Parks Superintendent, Ryan Crowley, will supply the costs associated with the request. The initial recommendation will be presented to the Parks Advisory Board at the October meeting. STAFF REPORTS  Veteran’s Park grading will begin in early October.  The meeting date change to Tuesday’s was requested by staff however will not be changing due to conflicting schedules. The Parks Advisory Board will continue to meet on the 3rd Monday of the month.  Recycling education efforts have begun. The partnership with Johnson County has begun providing education materials and will continue to be seen in the City newsletter, website and social media accounts. After discussion the Board agreed to extend an invitation to the creator of the petition to discuss the need further at the October meeting. Members also requested a presentation from City staff in November to gain a better understanding of the Special Parks Funding and current items on the City’s Capital Improvement Projects plan. o Mr. Squire requested Hometown Holidays be a discussion item on the agenda in October. ADJOURN Motion by George Eshnaur, seconded by Tommy Holland to adjourn. Motion carried.
