March 18, 2019
CALL TO ORDER
Doug D’Albini called the meeting to order at 6:10 p.m.

ROLL CALL
Dora Davison called the roll of the Parks Advisory Board. With a quorum present, the meeting
commenced.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion by Mark Squire to approve amended agenda, seconded by George Eshnaur to approve the
agenda. Motion carried.
CITIZEN PARTICIPATION
None
FORMAL BOARD ITEMS
1. Approval of Minutes: December 17, 2018
Motion by George Eshnaur, seconded by Mark Squire to approve minutes. Motion carried.
DISCUSSION
Ditch the Bag Campaign Results were positive. The City of Spring Hill joined efforts with 11 other
Johnson County cities to encourage proper recycling. Mr. Crowley provided a summary of the
effort including social media, direct mailer and print media that were used to educate Johnson
County residents to ditch the bag when recycling.

Daffodil Days will be April 27th. The Board agreed to continue the tradition of handing out free
gift trees at the event to promote tree planting in Spring Hill. A schedule of booth participation
will be determined at the April 15th meeting.
o Organization/planning for a community cleanup effort to be discussed in detail at the
April 15th meeting.
STAFF REPORT
Veteran’s Park construction plans should be completed by the end of April.
Interviews for firms to design the new Parks and Recreation Master Plan have been completed.
A recommendation will be made to the City Council to proceed.
The Multi‐use park discussion with SHIFT continues with City Administrator Jim Hendershot.

Motion by George Eshnaur, seconded by Mark Squire to adjourn. Motion carried.
