The regular meeting of the St. Charles Human Relations Commission was held on Thursday,
February 20, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of City Hall in Conference Room A.
1. Call to order and call the roll- The meeting was called to order by Chairperson, Alex
Reichert at 4:30 p.m. Those in attendance are noted above.
2. Review and Approval of the January 16, 2020 minutes- Commissioner Tina Meyer
made a motion to approve the minutes. Vice-Chair Jason Dunn seconded the motion.
All were in favor. The minutes were approved as submitted.
3. Report from City Liaison- Staff Liaison Chuck Lovelace reported no items for the
commission mail box this month. Liaison Chuck Lovelace welcomed Lt. Thomas
Wilkison from the Police Department. Capt. Mike Akers announced that Lt. Thomas
Wilkison will be the Police Department representative for the commission when he
retires this year.
4. New Business-
A. 2020 EHOC Annual Fair Housing Conference April 24, 2020- Commission Liaison
Chuck Lovelace indicated that three (3) tickets are available for Commissioners to
attend the Equal Housing Opportunity Council (EHOC) Fair Housing Conference on
April 24, 2020 at the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park. The 2020 conference
is titled “Up A Creek Without A Paddle: Environmental Racism at the Confluence”.
Attendance fees will be paid through CDBG funding.
B. Review of Current Ordinances to add gender identity- Commissioners began
discussion of possible changes to current ordinances regarding gender identity.
Notes from the discussion are attached to these minutes. The discussion will
continue at the March 2020 regular meeting.
5. Comments From Commissioners- Commission Vice-Chair Jason Dunn announced
the upcoming Pride St Charles Ambush Soccer night will be held at the Family Arena on
April 25, 2020.
6. Next Meeting- The next meeting will be held Thursday, March 19, 2020 in City Hall
Conference Room A.
7. Adjournment- Commissioner Ed Bryant made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Commissioner Jason Dunn seconded the motion. All were in favor. The meeting
adjourned at 7:03 p.m.
