Council Liaison April Moxley Michelle Giessman I. Call to Order & Introduction: The Tourism Commission meeting was called to order at 4:02 p.m. by Vice Chair Dorothy Boshears. Other Commissioners present were: John Hanneke, Scott Tate, Dan Badock, Kim Carpenter, Chris Comotto, April Moxley, Michelle Giessman, Ann Hazelwood, Tim Lewin, Sheri Steffans, and Greg Van Wyck. Also present was Joe Ward, Director of the Saint Charles Convention & Visitors Bureau; Elizabeth Phelps, Assistant Director; Katie Conoyer, Marketing Director for the St. Charles Convention Center; and Sarah Brady, Staff Liaison. Ms. Giessman introduced Bryan Stone, Coordinator of Alumni Relations for Lindenwood University. II. Approval of Minutes: A motion was made by Ms. Comotto to approve the August 24, 2017 meeting minutes. The motion was seconded by Mr. Lewin, and was approved unanimously. III. Financial Report: A motion was made by Ms. Hazelwood to approve the financial report. The motion was seconded by Ms. Carpenter, and was approved unanimously. IV. Presentations: A. STR Report: Mr. Lewin presented the STR report. B. Convention Center Report: Ms. Conoyer presented the Convention Center report. V. Convention and Visitors Bureau Update: Mr. Ward provided an update on CVB activities VI. Marketing Update: Ms. Phelps provided a presentation of CVB’s new website. A motion was made by Ms. Comotto to approve the Marketing Update. The motion was seconded by Mr. Hanneke, and was approved unanimously. VII. Reports A. Mayor’s Report: Mayor Faith provided an update on cameras and lighting on Main Street and the Trolley app. B. Council Liaison: None X. Adjournment: A motion was made by Mayor Sally Faith to adjourn the meeting at 5:04PM. The motion was seconded by Dorothy Boshears, and was approved unanimously. Each event averaged 2.18 days. Year to date, 147 groups met in the Convention Center accounting for 373 event days and 193,580 people. Each event averaged 2.18 days. SALES AND MARKETING:  During the month of September, the Sales Team : o Contracted 26 definite events this month totaling $500,982.78 in revenue and 555 room nights. o Conducted 6 site tours/appointments.  The Team is currently working: o 288 tentative leads totaling over $1.669 million in revenue with 30,341 room nights. o 29 firm bookings totaling $894,736.00 in revenue and 3,032 room nights. This was attributed to holding an unbudgeted Tradeshow, and unbudgeted consumer show, and higher Catering Revenue being over budget from the 9 banquets held. Year-To-Date Highlights:  Gross Revenue = $5,078,550 which is $267,000 ahead of budget. This is driven by Conventions as we have held 4 unbudgeted.  Net Performance = In the Black at $195,279 which is ahead of budget by $444,960.
