City of Star Council Special Meeting Minutes January 28, 2013 A Special Meeting of the City of Star Council was held on January 28, 2013 at 7:08 am at the Star City Hall. Mayor Nathan Mitchell called the meeting to order. Roll Call: Present – Chad Bell; via Telephone – Gary Smith, Tammy McDaniel and Tom Erlebach – all were accounted. Land Discussion/Purchase - Mayor Mitchell explained the property was at 88 S. Knox, right behind the Fire Station. McDaniel asked if this purchase would bring the City into compliance with regard to parking at the City. The Mayor stated that it would. Smith asked if the house on the property would be demolished. The Mayor stated that it would as it has no permanent foundation. The Mayor stated that the one concern regarding purchase of the property is that it will reduce the tax rolls. Currently it is on the tax rolls for $918; of which $165 comes to the City. Erlebach asked if there was a current tenant. The Mayor stated that the tenant left in September to Florida. Ruby DuShane owns the home and was involved in a private contract with the tenant, but the tenant defaulted on the agreement and now DuShane wants to sell the property. Smith asked if the purchase would be through the General Fund or Impact Fees. The Mayor stated that it would be with General Fund monies. McDaniel asked how soon this would happen. The Mayor stated that it is set for February 15th, but could close sooner. McDaniel moved to authorize the Mayor to sign the purchase agreement on 88 S. Knox, Star, Idaho, purchase price to be $52,000, Bell seconded the motion. Roll Call: Smith, Erlebach, McDaniel, Bell – all aye: motion carried. The Mayor declared the meeting closed at 7:25 am.
