City Council Special Meeting- Workshop

CITY OF STAR BUDGET WORKSHOP JULY 19, 2001 A Budget Workshop of the City of Star Council was held on July 19, 2001 at 7:35 at the Star Senior Center. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gussie O’Connor. ROLL CALL: Benedict, Glasgow, Stegenga and Dias BUDGET DISCUSSION: The 2001-2002 Budget was presented and reviewed. The Mayor expressed that we needed to have a tentative approval of the budget tonight as to be able to publish it in the paper in time for the public hearing. Benedict moved to approve the 2001-2002 Budget in the amount of $420,000.00. There was no second: motion dies. Discussion was held on foregone amounts and raising of taxes. Stegenga moved to approve the 2001-2002 Budget in the amount of $392,100.00. There was no second: motion dies. Glasgow would like to see a breakout of the utilities. Lambert will get information for the next meeting on the foregone amount. Benedict moved to approve the 2001-2002 Budget as presented, Dias seconded the motion. Vote: Dias – yes, Benedict – yes, Glasgow – no, Stegenga – no, O’Connor –yes; motion carried. Dias moved to adjourn the meeting, Benedict seconded the motion. All aye: motion carried.
