BOARD OF CODE APPEALS REGULAR MEETING December 14, 2017 SUBJECT: The minutes of the Board of Code Appeals meeting of December 14 , 2017. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Stanek at 6:08 pm MEMBERS PRESENT: Douglas Harvey, Laurel Johnson, Terry Measel, Thaddeus Stanek, Thomas Szatkowski Michael Viazanko, Building Official RECORDING SECRETARY: Dana Vietto APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion by Measel, supported by Szatkowski, to approve the agenda as presented. Yes: All Absent: None. Motion: Carried. CONSIDERATIONS PG17-0315 – Michelle Finateri 14801 Island Drive Requesting variance to MPC 2015 Section 403.1 and 403.3 to use vault type toilets and hand sanitizer instead of bath sinks with hot and cold water. Michelle Finateri, applicant, was present. Brenden King, was present. Three minute video was shown. They discussed the cost to run utilities on to island. It would be very costly. Port-a-potty and out-house are not attractive and unpleasant. A vault house would be more esthetically pleasing. Maximum occupancy is 100. Ticket sales would be for a two hour period. Online ticket sales. Any waste will be taken over the bridge and then a truck picks it up from there. The Board questioned the food handling on the island. Ms. Finateri will sell hot dogs and small food on carts. The waste from the vault will be pumped into a trailer then taken to a truck for disposal. Mr. Measel questioned the option of having a well. Mr. King stated that a well truck can’t get onto the island and also they can’t get sewer onto the island. Mr. Szatkowski questioned neighbors smelling the honey tank when it is being dumped into the truck for disposal. Ms. Finateri stated that the tanks are emptied two to three times a year. A licensed hauler is used for disposal. Mr. Szatkowski questioned if a rat wall is required. Mr. Viazanko stated that it will require a rat wall if it is over 50 square feet. A separate variance would be required if they choose not to install. Mr. Viazanko stated that no variance is needed for a drinking fountain. Ms. Finateri agreed to offer free water for the public if they don’t want to purchase bottled water. Motion by Szatkowski, supported by Johnson, to approve PG17-0315 at 14801 Island Drive, Board approval to use vault type toilets and hand sanitizer instead of bath sinks with hot and cold water.
