CITY OF STERLING HEIGHTS
MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2015
IN CITY HALL
Mayor Michael C. Taylor called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Mayor Taylor led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and Mark Carufel, City Clerk,
gave the Invocation.
Council Members present at roll call: Deanna Koski, Joseph V. Romano, Maria G.
Schmidt, Nate Shannon, Doug Skrzyniarz, Michael C. Taylor, Barbara A. Ziarko.
Also Present: Mark Vanderpool, City Manager; Jeffrey Bahorski, City Attorney; Mark
Carufel, City Clerk; Madeline L. Ranella, Recording Secretary.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Moved by Koski, seconded by Romano, to approve the Agenda as presented.
Yes: All. The motion carried.
1. City Clerk Mark Carufel read the results of the Board of Canvassers:
Office of Mayor: Michael Taylor 13,265 votes and elected Mayor.
Candidate Paul Smith 3,066 votes.
City Council: Joseph Romano 11,443 votes and elected to City Council. He shall serve
as Mayor Pro-Tem as a result of being the highest vote getter.
Barbara Ziarko 10,802 votes and elected to City Council.
Deanna Koski 10,569 votes and elected to City Council.
Nate Shannon 10,533 votes and elected to City Council.
Doug Skrzyniarz 10,461 votes and elected to City Council.
Maria Schmidt 10,328 votes and elected to City Council.

Joe Judnick 5,280 votes.
Jackie Ryan 4,601 votes.
Jazmine Early 4,114 votes.
Moira Smith 3,711 votes.
Sanaa Elias 3,699 votes.
Verna Babula 2,824 votes.
There were 5 write in votes for Anita Bianko.
2. Chief Judge Michael Maceroni administered the Oath of Office to Mayor Taylor and the
City Council members.
3. Each Council member took a turn thanking their families, the City Clerk's Office, the
election workers, the Administration and City employees and the public for their support
in this election and all look forward to the next two years working together to move the
City forward.
COMMUNICATIONS FROM CITIZENS
There were no communications from citizens at this time.
REPORTS FROM CITY ADMINISTRATION AND CITY COUNCIL
There were no reports from City Administration or City Council at this time.
ADJOURN
Moved by Ziarko, seconded by Romano, to adjourn the meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
