CITY OF STERLING HEIGHTS CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION, ACT 78 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF DECEMBER 9, 2013 The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission, Act 78, was held in Room 205, City Hall, 40555 Utica Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan 1. The meeting was called to order at 3:08 p.m. by Chairwoman Terri Jarema. 2. Roll Call Present: Chairwoman Terri Jarema, Commissioner Irv Droste, Commissioner Jerry Griesbeck Also present: Christopher Martin, Fire Chief; Walter Blessed, Human Resources Director, Mark Carufel, City Clerk; Kimberly Craig, EMPCO, Inc. Donald DeNault, City Attorney 3. Approval of Agenda Moved by Griesbeck, supported by Droste, to approve the agenda as presented. Yes: All. The motion carried. 4. Approval of minutes of regular meeting of May 19, 2011. Moved by Droste, supported by Griesbeck, to approve the minutes of the May 19, 2011 meeting as presented. Yes: All. The motion carried. 5. Establish requirements and testing process for a new firefighter eligibility list. Ms. Craig provided information regarding the candidate testing and qualification process through EMPCO. Commission members discussed the recommended firefighter minimum eligibility requirements with HR Director Blessed and Fire Chief Martin. Moved by Droste, supported by Griesback, to approve firefighter minimum requirements 1 –12 for the 2014-2016 eligibility list as amended.  Yes: All. The motion carried. Moved by Griesbeck, seconded by Droste to approve HR Director Walt Blessed to utilize EMPCO, Inc. for the Firefighter application and testing process. Yes: All. The motion carried. 6. Communications from Citizens There were no communications from citizens 7. New Business There was no new business. 8. Adjourn Moved by Griesbeck, supported by Droste, to adjourn the meeting.
