CITY OF STERLING HEIGHTS CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION, ACT 78 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF APRIL 24, 2014 The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission, Act 78, was held in Room 201, City Hall, 40555 Utica Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan. 1. The meeting was called to order at 3:22 p.m. by Chairwoman Terri Jarema. 2. Roll Call Present: Chairwoman Terri Jarema, Commissioner Irv Droste, and Commissioner Jerry Griesbeck Also present: Mark Carufel, City Clerk, Walter Blessed, Human Resources Director, Christopher Martin, Fire Chief, and Donald DeNault, City Attorney 3. Approval of Agenda Moved by Griesbeck, supported by Droste, to approve the agenda as presented. Yes: All. The motion carried. 4. Approval of minutes of regular meeting of February 4, 2014. Moved by Griesbeck, supported by Jarema, to approve the minutes of the February 4, 2014 as amended. Yes: All. The motion carried. Review and certification of firefighter eligibility list. The eligibility list consisted of 36 candidates that received passing scores on both the written and oral exams. After discussion with Mr. Blessed and Chief Martin, it was determined that once there were less than 5 qualified candidates, a new list would be required. The two-year eligibility list is valid 4/24/14 through 4/23/16. Moved by Griesbeck, supported by Droste, to approve the firefighter eligibility list for a period of two (2) years. Yes: All. The motion carried. 6. Communications from Citizens There were no communications from citizens 7. New Business There was no new business. 8.
