CITY OF STERLING HEIGHTS CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION, ACT 78 OFFICIAL MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF JANUARY 8, 2016 The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission, Act 78, was held in Room 202, City Hall, 40555 Utica Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan. 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 11:01 a.m. by Chairwoman Terri Jarema. 2. Roll Call Present: Chairwoman Terri Jarema, Commissioner Irv Droste, and Commissioner Jerry Griesbeck (via phone) Also present: Mark Carufel, City Clerk, Interim Police Chief John Berg, Police Lieutenant James Belmonte and Donald DeNault, City Attorney. 3. Approval of Agenda Moved by Droste, supported by Jarema, to approve the agenda as presented. Yes: All. The motion carried. 4. Approval of minutes of regular meeting of August 31, 2015. Moved by Droste, supported by Jarema, to approve the minutes of the August 31, 2015 meeting. Yes: All. The motion carried. 5. Review and certification of Police Officer Eligibility List Mark Carufel provided the Commissioners with the proposed eligibility list of 58 applicants qualified for placement on the list. He also provided a list of applicants that were not qualified for placement on the final recommended eligibility list. Those reasons included: applicant withdrawal, applicant no response / no show for oral board interview, applicant scored below 70 on oral board interview, and applicant failed to meet one or more of the police officer minimum requirements. Moved by Griesbeck, supported by Droste, to approve the Police Officer Eligibility List for the period of January 8, 2016 through January 7, 2017. Yes: All.
