CITY OF STERLING HEIGHTS CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION, ACT 78 UNOFFICIAL MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF APRIL 26, 2017 The regular meeting of the Civil Service Commission, Act 78, was held in City Council Chambers, City Hall, 40555 Utica Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan. 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 3:10 p.m. by Chairwoman Terri Jarema. 2. Roll Call Present: Chairwoman Terri Jarema, Commissioner Irv Droste, and Commissioner Jerry Griesbeck (via phone) Also present: Mark Carufel, City Clerk; Melanie Ryska, Deputy City Clerk; Don DeNault, City Attorney; Chris Martin, Fire Chief; Kate Baldwin, Human Resources and Benefits Manager 3. Approval of Agenda Moved by Droste, supported by Griesbeck, to approve the agenda as presented. Yes: All. The motion carried. 4. Approval of minutes of regular meeting of December 13, 2016 Moved by Griesbeck, supported by Droste, to approve the minutes of the December 13, 2016 meeting. Yes: All. The motion carried. 5. Review and Approval of new Firefighter Eligibility List Commissioners reviewed the proposed firefighter eligibility list. Discussion ensued and the Commission determined it is only necessary to approve the list with an effective date. The Fire Department will hire 18 new firefighters beginning July 1, 2017. Moved by Droste, supported by Griesbeck, to approve the Firefighter Eligibility List effective June 4, 2017. Yes: All. The motion carried. 6. Communications from Citizens Civil Service Commission, Act 78 Meeting of April 26, 2017 Page 2 There were no communications from citizens. 7. New Business There was no new business. 8.
