CITY OF STERLING HEIGHTS MINUTES OF THE ELECTION COMMISSION JULY 13, 2019 Location: Senior Center, 40200 Utica Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48313 1. Meeting called to order and roll call. Chair Ryska called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. Commissioners present: Wayne Davis, Joseph Niman, Jr., Melanie D. Ryska, City Clerk 2. Approval of Agenda. Motion by Davis, seconded by Niman, to approve the agenda as presented. Yes: All Motion carried. 3. Approval of Meeting Minutes of February 13, 2020. Motion by Niman, seconded by Davis, to approve the meeting minutes of February 13, 2020 as presented. Yes: All Motion carried. 4. To consider establishment of absent voter counting boards for the November 5, 2019 City General Election Clerk Ryska stated that the process changes that were implemented in the AVCB have proven to increase efficiencies. The Clerk’s Office will continue to tweak the process to accommodate the growth of absentee voting. Motion by Niman, seconded by Davis, to approve Absent Voter Counting Boards for the August 4, 2020 Primary Election, at the discretion of the City Clerk. To appoint Election Inspectors and Receiving Board Members for the November 5, 2019 City General Election The Commission reviewed the lists of workers. Motion by Davis, seconded by Niman, to appoint Election Inspectors and Receiving Board Members for the August 4, 2020 Primary Election, and to authorize the City Clerk to add additional inspectors as necessary. Yes: All Motion carried. 6. Communication from Citizens. None 7. Old Business. The Commission discussed plans for the end of night work at the Community Center, including adding receiving boards, maintaining social distancing and ensuring there is enough staff on hand to assist. 8.
