I. Call to Order
Meeting was called to order by Don Schinzing at 5:30 p.m. Chris Frezza was welcomed as a
new member of the Library Board.
II. Roll Call
Members Present: Josephine Berthet, Chris Frezza, June Hughes, Don Schinzing
Members Absent: Dave Brown
Staff Present: Tammy Turgeon, Library Director
III. Approval of Agenda
Frezza made a motion to approve the Agenda, seconded by Berthet. Motion carried.
IV. Approval of Minutes
Hughes made a motion to approve the minutes of the meeting on March 16, 2015, seconded by
Schinzing. Motion carried.
V. Communication from Citizens
None
VI. Monthly Reports, Statistics, and Correspondence
A. Building-Wide Stats – FY2014 / FY2015
Board reviewed statistics. Circulation is trending up due to borrowing of emedia (ebooks,
eaudiobooks, digital magazines, and digital music). Program attendance is comparable to
last FY. Room usage is up from last year.
B. Monthly Issues – March and April 2015
Board reviewed the monthly issues reports. Board commented on the Volunteer Luncheon
and received positive comments from attendees. The Board appreciated Mayor Taylor,
Councilwoman Koski and Councilwoman Ziarko attending the event. The Board
questioned the continuation of the Crafters Cooperative due to low attendance. (This
program will be discontinued in the fall). Board suggested craft classes for adults.
C. Compliment/Complaint Forms
Board reviewed compliments. Received compliments for the library’s excellent services,
the new arrangement of the hold shelves, the Funeral Planning program, the Library Legos
program, the Gadget Guy program, the Boogie Woogie Kid, Baby Lapsit, Gemini concert,
Shake Rattle & Roll program, Special recognition was received for service provided by
Abby Gruber and Lisa Kennedy. Board reviewed complaints. The Star Wars program will
be back in August. Facilities were told about the debris in front of the library. No air
freshener was installed in the bathrooms. Hold priority for items always goes to the owning
library’s patrons first, then by date the hold was placed. This is a cooperative-wide policy.
VII. Suburban Library Cooperative
No report.
VIII. Friends of the Library
A. Bookstore Report
The bookstore has comparable sales to last year.
IX. Unfinished Business
None
X. New Business
A. 2016 Budget
Board reviewed the 2016 Budget. The budget includes a new bookdrop and purchase of the
Mango Languages database. The budget also includes resuming Sunday hours during the
school year and adding a PT Technology Librarian. Security upgrades will also be made in
the Library including three additional cameras, locks on staff area doors, and the addition
of three panic buttons. There will be a ribbon cutting on September 13, 2015 to celebrate
the Library being open again on Sundays. This will take place around 12:30pm and we will
have cake and entertainment.
B. 2015/16 Library Closings
Motion to approve the 2015/16 Library Closings schedule as presented was made by
Bethet, supported by Frezza. Motion carried.
C. 2015/16 Board Meetings Schedule
Motion to approve the 2015/16 Board meeting schedule as presented was made by Berthet,
supported by Frezza. Motion carried.
D. Sterlingfest Volunteers
Board members were asked to volunteer for the Friends Sterlingfest Water Sale. The
Friends will also have a cart of books to sell at the Water Sale and encourage visitors to
visit the Used, but Sterling bookstore.
XI. Adjourn
Motion was made by Hughes to adjourn, supported by Berthet. Motion carried. Meeting
adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
