the Mayor and City Manager.
VI. Monthly Reports, Statistics, and Correspondence
A. Building-Wide Stats – FY2016 / FY2017
Board reviewed statistics. Circulation ended the year down from last fiscal year.
Reference questions were similar to last fiscal year. Volunteer hours were the
same as last fiscal year. Program attendance was up 3,000 attendees over last
year! Collection size continues to grow year over year due to purchasing ebooks
and eaudiobooks. Library visits are down compared to last year, but the new
patron counters were installed in February 2017 so the comparison will not be
accurate until February 2018.
B. Monthly Issues – May and June 2017
Board reviewed the monthly issues reports. Highlights discussed: A DeKeyser
Elementary School tour brought a lot of positive feedback. The StoryWalks in front
of the Library and Police sidewalks are doing well. The Memorial Day Parade was
a success. The Library’s cable channel was eliminated, but six hours of
programming will be hosted on the city’s channel for the Library. The Teen
Advisory Board had its first meeting and it was very successful.
C. Compliment/Complaint Forms
Board reviewed compliments. Received compliments for the Outreach program,
Toddler Time program, Boogie Woogie Kid program, My Journey as an Author
with Autism program, and the organization of the library. Staff recognition was
received for Rebecca LaFave, Danielle Kopacki, Laurie Zachwieja, the staff at the
Info desk, and the Library staff in general. Board reviewed complaints. Patron
upset about the location of the ramp. This can not be changed. Patron would like
Storytime to continue during the summer. Unfortunately we can not accommodate
additional programming due to the Summer Reading Program staffing demands.
Patron suggested having closed captioning on for the movies. Patron complained
Library was hot. This is always a problem during the transition between Spring and
Summer.
VII. Suburban Library Cooperative
Cooperative increased the Internet speed at shared system member libraries’
buildings. New PCs were installed in June.
VIII. Friends of the Library
A. Bookstore Report
The bookstore sales for this year are behind last year. John went to Eastern
Market on Sunday for a book event to sell books from the Friends’ Used but
Sterling bookstore. They made over $380 selling books for $2 hardcover and $1
paperback. Ziarko indicated that she would be willing to help next year and has a
van to bring more books so that an additional space could be rented. A suggestion
was made that the Friends’ bags could also be sold. Turgeon will present the
ideas to the Friends Board.

X. New Business

Motion to approve the revised Circulation Policy was made by Brown, supported
by Hughes. Motion carried.
