VI. Monthly Reports, Statistics, and Correspondence
A. Building-Wide Stats – FY2017 / FY2018
Board reviewed statistics. Circulation ended the year higher than last year, in large
part due to the automatic renewals of materials. Library visits over the past four
months compared to last fiscal year are about 1,500 less. This period of time is
comparable due to the installation of new patron counters February 2017. Program
attendance and wireless usage ended the year much higher than the previous
fiscal year.
B. Monthly Issues – May and June 2018
Board reviewed the monthly issues reports. The Friends’ Customer Appreciation
week went well in May. New staff have been hired recently. Summer Reading has
been very popular so far this year. The first Skate & Snack was a big success. The
next one is July 17, 2018. The Historical Commission has been busy conducting
tours of the Upton House and supporting the city’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
C. Compliment/Complaint Forms
Board reviewed compliments. Received compliments for the Storytime program,
Paint with a Trace program, Travel Photography program, Toddler Time program,
Shake Rattle & Roll program, Baby Lapsit program, Heartfulness Emotional
Intelligence program, Creative Writing Workshop program, and the bookstore.
Staff recognition was received for “excellent library staff”, “the women at the
upstairs desk”, Stephanie Fair and Brent Efing. Board reviewed
suggestions/complaints. Suggestion was made to not include full names on hold
shelf items, to purchase more book club kits, to bring back Star Wars Day, to
purchase specific music books, and to purchase Vivaldi cello concertos on CD.
Complaints were received regarding problems accessing the BrainHQ website, the
temperature in the meeting room, the ability to pay fines before items are returned,
and the location of the book drop. The book drop has been moved to its new
location by the U.S. mailbox. Residents can still drive up to it on the driver’s side
as this is considered the parking lot, not a street.
VII. Suburban Library Cooperative
New PCs were installed.
VIII. Friends of the Library
A. Bookstore Report
The bookstore sales continue to be lower than last year’s sales, but they have
picked up over the last month.
B. Quarterly Treasurer’s Report
The Friends budget through 2018 has expenses exceeding revenue, but large
expenses for Overdrive occur in the first half of the year.
IX. Unfinished Business
A. Sterlingfest Water Sale
Thank you to everyone that was able to volunteer.
X. New Business
