I. Call to Order
Meeting was called to order by Chris Frezza, Chair, at 5:36p.m.
II. Roll Call
Members Present: Shirley Cozort, Chris Frezza, Terry Hojnacki, Wendy
Popko, Stacy Ziarko. All Board members were calling in from Sterling Heights,
MI.
Members Excused:
III. Approval of Agenda
Motion to approve the agenda was made by Cozort, seconded by Hojnacki.
Motion carried.
IV. Approval of Minutes
Motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of November 16, 2020 was
made by Hojnacki, seconded by Cozort. Motion carried.
V. Communication from Citizens
Ziarko informed the board of a new version of the Healthy Living Expo that will
occur between May – September. The Library will be a part of this.
VI. Monthly Reports, Statistics, and Correspondence
A. Building-Wide Stats – FY2020 / FY2021
Board reviewed statistics. Due to the library being closed between
Christmas and New Year’s Day, the library was only open 19 days, which
affected Circulation and Reference numbers. Home deliveries increased.
B. Monthly Issues – November and December 2020
Board reviewed the monthly issues reports. The Teen Subscription boxes
are doing very well. More will be added next month to meet demand.
Curbside deliveries continue to be popular.
C. Compliment/Complaint Forms
QR Code feedback form was created and flyers were put in curbside bags.
This has provided the staff with much needed feedback and support
regarding our current services. Board reviewed compliments.
Compliments received for the curbside service, curbside craft pickup
programs, home delivery service, outreach service, the CreativeBug digital
service, and treats in the curbside bags around the holidays. Received
staff compliment for Carolyn Sherrill. Board reviewed suggestions /
complaints. Suggestion to purchase specific titles was forwarded to
librarian. Complaint about the time it is taking to renovate the building was
responded to.
VII. Suburban Library Cooperative
The Suburban Library Cooperative is getting a new website.
VIII. Friends of the Library
A. Bookstore Report
The Friends Board is meeting February 8th to set an opening date. Ziarko
provided a contact at Lakeside Mall that would like to host a book sale for
the Friends. Turgeon will contact him and report to the Friends Board to
set up a date.
B. Treasurer’s Report
Actual expenses for 2020 were $34,993.55 and income was $18,997.41.
IX. Unfinished Business
A. Building Updates
Building will be opening on February 1st to limited patrons with visits
limited to one hour and no seating. Curbside and home delivery services
will continue.
X. New Business
A. Election of Officers
Motion to continue with Frezza serving as Chair and Ziarko serving as
Vice Chair was made by Cozort, supported by Hojnacki. Motion carried.
B. Proposed Library Budget 2021-22
Library budget request is an increase of 1.4%. Service improvement
requests were made for adult subscription boxes and a strategic plan.
C. 2020 Library Volunteer of the Year
Motion to select Mary Light as the 2020 Library Volunteer of the Year was
made by Ziarko, supported by Cozort. Motion carried.
D. 2020 Library Staff Member Recognition
Motion to select Jason Groth as the 2020 Library Staff Member
Recognition was made by Hojnacki, supported by Ziarko. Motion carried.
XI. Adjourn
Motion was made by Cozort to adjourn, supported by Popko. Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 6:28 p.m.
