I. Call to Order
Meeting was called to order by Chris Frezza, Chair, at 5:30p.m.
II. Roll Call
Members Present: Chris Frezza, Terry Hojnacki, Kathryn McKinney, Wendy Popko,
Stacy Ziarko
Members Excused: n/a
III. Approval of Agenda
Motion to approve the agenda was made by Ziarko, seconded by Hojnacki. Motion
carried.
IV. Approval of Minutes
Motion to approve the minutes of the meeting of November 15, 2021 as amended was
made by Hojnacki, seconded by McKinney. Motion carried.
V. Communication from Citizens
Colton McKinney attended the meeting for a Boy Scout assignment.
VI. Monthly Reports, Statistics, and Correspondence
A. Building-Wide Stats – FY2021 / FY2022
Board reviewed statistics. Circulation continues to increase compared to last fiscal
year. There is still hesitancy with in person program attendance.
B. Monthly Issues – November and December 2021
Board reviewed the monthly issues reports. Curbside continues to be used by
residents. The Teen Advisory Board held a very successful program. Staffing
continues to be a challenge. One PT Librarian position that was vacated in
October was filled in January. Two PT Librarian position resignations were just
received and we will be looking to fill them as soon as possible.
C. Compliment/Complaint Forms
Board reviewed compliments. Compliments received for Krista’s excellent
customer service, Barb’s Stoywalk in the park, Brent’s assistance, and Stephanie’s
assistance. Board reviewed suggestions / complaints. Complaint received for a
lack of adult programming options. Program Coordinator was provided with the
feedback. Board members suggested other ideas that will be shared with Program
Coordinator.
VII. Suburban Library Cooperative
Cooperative is reviewing automation system options.
VIII. Friends of the Library
A. Bookstore Report
Friends revenues for the year were almost $30,000. The Friends are going to host
three book bundle sales this year based on the success of the holiday book sale –
March is Reading Month, Beach Reads and Holiday. They will also be hosting a
Book Fair for city employees in March. A new membership chair was appointed as
well.

X. New Business
A. Library Mural
The Library is interested in having a community art installation that will involve
Wendy Popko working with Sterling Heights teens to create a mural where the
teens are able to participate by completing reading goals in the Summer Reading
Program. Motion to approve the creation of a community artwork in the Library
outside of the teen room was made by Ziarko, supported by McKinney. Motion
carried.
B. Collection Development Policy Review
Board reviewed the Collection Development Policy and provided suggestions to
update statistics as well as consolidate the fiction and non-fiction sections to make
the policy more user friendly. Turgeon will bring back a revised Collection
Development Policy to the next meeting.
C. Internet Public Use Policy Revision
Motion to approve the revised Internet Public Use Policy was made by Hojnacki,
supported by Ziarko. Motion carried.
D. 2021 Library Volunteer of the Year
Motion to select Ken and Sue Hobig and Trevor as the 2021 Library Volunteers of
the Year was made by Ziarko, supported by Popko.
E. 2021 Library Staff Member Recognition
Motion to select Loa Foreit for the 2021 Library Staff Member Recognition was
made by Hojnacki, supported by Ziarko. Motion carried.
XI. Adjourn
Motion was made by Ziarko to adjourn, supported by Hojnacki. Motion carried.
