VI. Monthly Reports, Statistics, and Correspondence
A. Building-Wide Stats – FY2021 / FY2022
Board reviewed statistics. Circulation and library visits continue to increase as
more patrons are coming back to the library.
B. Monthly Issues – May and June 2022
Board reviewed the monthly issues reports. Staffing continues to be a struggle.
Two part-time Librarian positions are open with interviews being held in July.
Outreach to local schools took place to promote the summer reading program. The
Children’s Art Garden was revamped by Sue Hobig from the Sterling Heights
Nature Center.
C. Compliment/Complaint Forms
Board reviewed compliments/complaints. Received two suggestion forms to add
specific titles to the collection. These were forwarded to the Librarians that select
for those areas. Suggestion received to add a typewriter. If one is donated, we
could add it to the makerspace. It would be too noisy for the second floor public
area. Suggestion received to put current newspaper issues on the top of the
magazine shelving area.
VII. Suburban Library Cooperative
The Cooperative will be moving to a new automation system, Polaris, and a new
patron catalog called Vega. The transition will occur in September. Publicity for the
transition will occur in August when dates are finalized.
VIII. Friends of the Library
A. Bookstore Report
The Friends’ Bookstore revenue from the first 6 months of 2022 compared to 2021
has increased. The Beach Reads special sale went well and the Farmers Market
sale went great also.
IX. Unfinished Business
A. Strategic Planning Survey/Sessions/Retreat
The flyer to advertise the survey and focus group sessions was put in the July
water bills. When advertised on social media, board members should share the
posts. Board suggested providing the flyer to Michelle Bereza-Deming so she can
share at new Board/Commission member meeting.
