1. Donna Boykin calls the meeting to order at 9:09 a.m.
2. Motion made by Sheridan Meriwether to approve the May 17, 2023 minutes as written,
seconded by Saniyyah Manigault-Westbrook. All are in favor and the motion passed.
3. Rachel Lewis reviewed the Financial Report as of June 21, 2023. Request for supplemental
funding has been approved in the amount of $587,333.43. Encumbrances are going down
but still short $10,449.64, might have to do a second supplemental request. Motion made
by Kimberly Jennings to accept Financial Report as written, seconded by Sheridan
Meriwether. All are in favor and the motion passed.
4. CLOSED SESSION - Donna Boykin entertains a motion to convene a Closed Meeting for
the purpose of discussing cases before the Family Assessment and Planning Team in
accordance with the provisions in subsection A of ş 2.2-3711 of the Code of Virginia as
amended in 2001 and 2005 respectively. Only applicable exceptions as provided in section
ş 2.2-3707 or subsection A of Section ş 2.2-3711 are to be discussed. Wendy Warfel
motions to enter closed session. Kimberly Jennings seconds motion to enter into closed
session. All are in favor and the motion passed.
5. RETURN TO OPEN SESSION – Donna Boykin entertains a motion to move out of Closed
Meeting. Jenny Hodge motions to enter open session. Sheridan Meriwether seconds the
motion. All are in favor and the motion passed. Donna Boykin initiated a roll call certifying
that to the best of each member’s knowledge only the following matters were discussed
during the closed session: 1) public business matters lawfully exempted from statutory
open meeting requirements and 2) public business matters identified in the motion to
convene the closed meeting. All Affirmed.
6. Jenny Hodge enters the motion to approve all cases presented and appropriately
discussed. Sheridan Meriwether seconded the motion. All in in favor and the motion
passed. Included with what was presented, CSA will not provide funding for rent/utilities
in the amount of $3,000. CPMT will table until next month meeting with an update from
FAPT on the matter. Total amount approved $366,319.54.
7. Old Business
A. ARPA Mental Health Grant/Community Violence Initiative Update– Committee
members met on May 17, 2023 to provide updates per the list of action items. The
next committee meeting will be on June 21, 2023 at 3 p.m. Suffolk DSS.
B. Items from Members – There were no items presented
8. New Business
A. Annaul Risk Assessment Survey (OCS) – Rachel Lewis reviewed the required survey.
Members of CPMT discussed and completed the survey to be submitted. Mrs. Lewis
informed everyone that she still has not heard back from anyone in reference to the
CSA audit. She will contact the office of OCS to follow up.
B. Items from the Members – There were no items presented
9. Training: Strategic Planning and CQI (Anna Antell, Office of Children’s Services) – Anna
Antell, LCSW – Lead Program Consultant and Carrie Thompson – Research Associate
Senior provided training for CPMT members in attendance. Mrs. Antell suggested
revisiting the plan quarterly.
10. Presentation – Rachel Lewis presented Donna Boykin, CPMT Chair with a gift and card
from the Members. Ms. Boykin has been a part of Suffolk CPMT for over 26 years. We all
wish you well.
11. Adjourn – CPMT adjourned the meeting at 12:34 p.m. Motion to adjourn made by
Sheridan Meriwether, seconded by Saniyyah Manigault-Westbrook. All are in favor and
the motion passed.
