New Business A motion to nominate and appoint the following individuals to the respective boards and commissions was approved 8-0: Western Tidewater Community Services Board – Rachel Lewis and Dr. Melinda Boone Economic Development Authority of the City of Suffolk – Arthur Collins A motion to transfer $30,787 from the City Council Travel, Training, and Special Events Account and $16,613 from the City Contingency Account to fund an allocation to the Genieve Shelter in the amount of $23,700 and an allocation to the Center for Hope and New Beginnings in the amount of $23,700 was approved by a vote of 8-0. A motion to continue consideration of the following funding requests at the March 18, 2009, City Council meeting was approved by a vote of 7-1 (Council Member Parr voted no.): Tidewater Builders Association’s Building Trades Academy; Tim Reid Scholarship Foundation’s Celebrity Weekend; Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts Art of Glass Exhibition 2 25.
